Ostrich effect

The ostrich effect happens when you deliberately try to avoid negative information or thoughts. A form of "if I don't think about it, it can't hurt me" thinking.

Wikipedia says that "the name comes from the common (but false) legend that ostriches bury their heads in the sand to avoid danger."
