The ostrich effect happens when you deliberately try to avoid negative information or thoughts. A form of "if I don't think about it, it can't hurt me" thinking.

- You can feel your relationship going downhill, but it's scary to talk about it. So you try your best to ignore the bad signs.
- You've been spending a bit generously today, so you avoid looking at your bank account for the rest of the day.
